Aims of the Event

To determine the 2017 Queensland Champions in FS and AE

To promote the sport of skydiving and competition to all experience levels of skydivers

To prepare local skydivers for Australian National Championships in 2018

To provide a pathway for Australian Team Selection for Queensland Skydivers, to the World Skydiving Championships, Gold Coast 2018

To improve Judging opportunity, methods and technology

Procedure for Registration

Every person who wishes to compete at the State Championships is required to be included in a team registration. Registration is on-line or can be done on the day. Registration is free, but only teams registered will be eligible for free camera slots, T-Shirts and a ticket in the sponsors prize draw at the medal ceremony.

 

Individuals who don’t have a team but would like to be placed in a scratch team are invited to submit a registration and we’ll contact you if we can find a team for you.

The offer of free camera slots and T-shirts will now be extended to everyone who registers by midnight, Tuesday 12th September. This allows the following coaching events: Learning Curve Camp, Toogoolawah and Springfest, Byron Bay, to be utilised as opportunities to create and develop teams for the competition.

 

You will still need to register your team in the week preceding the champs.

 

Individuals and scratch teams are welcome to attend and enter on the day, but free camera slots, and T-shirts will not be included with on-the-day registration.

 

Every person who wishes to compete must complete a waiver and have an account with Skydive Australia. If you have not jumped at with Skydive Australia before, you will be required to open an account and purchase jump tickets. We encourage all competitors to do this prior to competition day.

 

Registration and Jump Tickets

Registration is free. Teams registered by 12th Sept will have all camera slots paid by QPA.

Jump Tickets are available for purchase at usual DZ prices of $44 per ticket, or $420 for 10.

 

Competition Rules

The 2017 Queensland State Skydiving Championships will be conducted in accordance with the Australian Parachute Federation Sporting Code, July 2017

Competition will be 5 rounds in all disciplines unless determined otherwise by the Meet Director. 

Competitors may compete in more than one team and more than one event with prior permission of the Meet Director, but please be aware that you are committing to 10 jumps over the weekend.

 

 

Schedule of events

Friday 15th September

0800hrs to last load Official Practice

0800hrs until 8pm Registration and Waiver, Gear Checks

 

Friday 15th September, 2017

1900hrs (7pm) Official draw at the hanger.

1900hrs to 2100hrs (7pm until 9pm) Dirt Diving and creeping at the hanger


Saturday 16th September, 2017

0700hrs Compulsory Competitors Meeting and Safety Briefing

Gear up calls and start of competition will follow the competitors meeting.

Competition will run until last load.


Sunday 17th September, 2017

0700hrs Gear up call for competition loads. Competition will run until completion or until end of competition is called by the Meet Director.


Medal ceremony and lucky door prizes will take place at the completion of judging, after the competition is called, or on Sunday evening

Facilities

Creepers: A limited number of creepers will be available for the use of teams at the hanger.

Food: will be available on site at Skydive Byron Bay during operational hours.

Packers: will be available amongst the regular packing crew at Skydive Byron Bay, or, bring your own.

 

Accommodation

There is no accommodation available at Tyagarah airfield.

Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby have good quality hotels and caravan parks

There are many good Airbnb options in the area.

 

Camping

Exclusive skydiver camping and great facilities are available close to the DZ for $20 per person, per night. Please pay on arrival. Address and directions:

·      Half way between Kennedys Lane and Tyagarah Rd

·      On the western side of the highway, opposite side to the DZ.

·      If coming from the north you have to do a u-turn at Kennedys Lane and head 200m north on the Pacific highway the drive way will be on your left.

·      If coming from the south you pass Kennedys Lane and head 200m further north on the Pacific Highway, and the drive way will be on your left.
