These events happened at Gatton Drop Zone last month on the 18th and 19th.

The weather day on Monday 20thwas not needed as the Precision Accuracy was completed on the Saturday and the Sport and Style on the Sunday.

Numbers were down on last year when it was held at the beach in Caloundra, but Gatton was a great change and saw a few new faces.

Sam Gray improved his performance from a silver in Novice, to Gold in the open, narrowly beating Sam Hood who won silver in his first competition. Justin de Ward repeated his performance from last year and took home the bronze. The Masters Sport was taken out by Mike Dyer, silver went to Alan White from Toogoolawah and the Australian Top Pop and perennial competitor, Ian Robertson took bronze.

In Precision, it went down to the last of 6 rounds with the leaders tied on 17cms. Finally Andy Pike from Caboolture won with 0.01 cm on the last round to Mike Dyer’s 0.02. John Friswell of Gatton took out 3rd.

The Style event was run in a unique way with video work being performed in freefall. Results will be known only after a judge has a chance to rule on them.

(There’s a rumour that it might be back at Caloundra next year and tying in with the Nationals in May. Bids will be considered at our AGM in early next year).
