Past Regional Coach: Chris Rose

(Regional Coach) 2011 - 2013

Raised and educated in Sydney NSW. Trained as an Electrician, Linesman and Personal Trainer.

My skydiving life began in mid 1998 at Kooralbyn DZ under the instruction of Sally Bushell and CI Brad Turner. Kooralbyn was a small student training DZ and operated out of a C182.

On completion of my A Licence and 2 malfunctions, I enquired of my CI, “what next?” “Competitive Skydiving is very rewarding and challenging. Let’s get your B rels out of the way and we’ll have a chat” was his response.

At the time, Kooralbyn fostered a few other new young jumpers, also with a competitive nature. So with B rels completed, we formed our first 4 way Team, Smokin’. To add fuel to the competitive fire within us we were fortunate to have the likes of 4 way Team Light Speed and 16 way Team It’ll Happen training at our DZ in our early jumping days.

Since then I’ve competed in numerous teams at a number of Nationals and State Titles gaining various Gold and Silver medals in 4 and 8 way.

I gained my AFF instructor endorsement in 2000, and have worked full time as an AFF instructor and camera flyer.

Many memorable jumps and boogies over the years, and highlights range from reliving my AFF Stage 1 for my 1000th jump (thanks for the great photo Fitch and I believe I still owe you a carton Susie J), super fun raft jumps at Nox, and in 2010 achieving the Australian Formation Skydiving Bigway Record 3 times consecutively in 1 day.

More recently I’ve helped form SEQS Club (South East Queensland Skydivers Club) and hold the position of President. In this role, and with the help of many likeminded passionate sporting jumpers, I get great satisfaction in facilitating events that encourage and foster, skydiving competition, coaching, education and parties.

I’m looking forward to joining what I believe to be a great SQPC management team and thank the SQPC members for selecting me as their State Coach.
